Whether you just learned how the knight moves yesterday or you've been grinding tactics online for years, you’ll find a great game here. Our club is designed to be an inviting, zero-pressure space for:
- Beginners: Learn the rules, basic openings, and board vision in a supportive environment.
- Casual Players: Enjoy friendly, unrated games with local chess lovers over a cup of coffee or tea.
- Experienced Players: Find sharp over-the-board competition and post-game position analysis.
- Youth & Families: Players of all ages are welcome (children under 14 should be accompanied by an adult).
How a Meeting Runs
There's no rigid structure or mandatory participation—drop in whenever you can and stay as long as you like!
1. Casual Pairings & Open Play
When you arrive, grab a seat at an open board. We pair people up naturally based on who is ready to play.
2. Flexible Formats
Play whatever format you prefer! Most members play untimed casual games or friendly Blitz/Rapid formats (10-15 minute clocks).
3. Post-Game Analysis
One of the best parts of over-the-board chess! Players frequently review key tactical turns together after a match.
What Should I Bring?

- Standard Staunton tournament chess sets & boards
- Digital chess clocks for timed play
- Score sheets for recording moves (optional)
What You Can Bring
- Your favorite board or clock (if you'd like to use it!)
- A notebook for recording games or taking notes
- Just yourself—nothing mandatory required
Ground Rules & Etiquette
We keep things simple and friendly:
- Respect Your Opponent: Offer a handshake or friendly nod before and after every game.
- Good Sportsmanship: Win with grace, lose with dignity, and keep discussions helpful.
- Touch-Move Rules: Casual games can be flexible, but agreed-upon touch-move applies in structured games.
